Catawba Falls at Home to No. 8 Rollins

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba played host to its first-ever women's lacrosse game at Shuford Stadium on Sunday afternoon, falling to #8 Rollins 22-2. Tori Snow (Marblehead, MA) scored four goals to help the Tars improve to 3-0. The Catawba Indians fell 0-2.

Snow scored the game's first goal just over two minutes in and Rollins went on to take a 5-0 edge in the opening seven minutes. Ebony Mills (Harrison, ME/Oxford Hills HS/Mount Ida) scored both the Catawba goals, the last cutting the Catawba deficit to 6-2. Rollins went on to add 10 more goals before the break to lead 16-4 at the half.

Rollins finished with a 40-6 edge in shots and won 17 of the 25 draw controls. The Tars also held a 28-12 edge in ground balls.

Sarah Ann Showell (Ocean City, MD), Kelly Thayer (Orlando, FL) and Anna Townsend (Ocean City, MD) each added three goals for the Tars. Suzanne Gainey (Wellesley, MA) had a pair of goals and two assists. Cat Kelley (Alexandria, VA) picked up a pair of goals.

Three different players shared time in goal for Rollins. Elyse De Lisle (Windermere, FL) played the first half and had one save. Micelle Dillingham (Debary, FL) had a pair of saves. Haley Register (Simpsonville, SC/Mauldin HS) and Brandi Cockerham (Mocksville, NC/Davie Co. HS) each played a half for the Lady Indians. Register made four saves, while Cockerham stopped a pair of shots.
