Hood Drops CAC Season Opener to York
FREDERICK, Md.--Junior Caitlin Lawrence and senior Julia Banks of Hood College (1-1, 0-1 CAC) both scored single tallies in a 20-2 Capital Athletic Conference setback to the York College (Pa.) Spartans (1-0, 1-0 CAC) Tuesday in the conference opener for both schools.
Lawrence notched her fifth goal of the season, an unassisted score, with 4:16 to go in the first half. Banks' tally, her third of the year, came at the 15:43 mark of the second half.
Eleven different Spartans found the back of the net, including seven players with multi-goal games. Kim Wayson and Jenna Hiponia each recorded a hat trick for York.
Helene Butler faced 26 total shots and made six saves, while Kati Vu, Banks, Lawrence and Katie McPhail were all credited with a forced turnover.
York led 14-1 at halftime and added six more tallies in the second half.
Hood plays its second of four straight home games Saturday against King's College (Pa.) at 3:00 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field.
