#3 Colorado State Sprints by Northern Colorado

Loveland, CO The Colorado State Rams used a balanced and deep scoring attack and smothering ride to outpace visiting MCLA Division II Northern Colorado on Sunday afternoon at the Loveland Sports Park.

The Rams jumped out to a 6-1 first quarter lead and kept the pressure on all the way to the end in a convincing 17-3 victory over a scrappy and hard-working UNC squad.

The Rams scored five goals in each of the first two periods as they put relentless pressure on the UNC goal. An eight point effort by junior Austin Fisher (Rock Canyon HS/Highlands Ranch, CO) led the way for the Rams, who also got three assists from sophomore Sean Smith (Amherst HS/Amherst, NY).

CSU again found success on the ride and in the face-off game. Junior Dan Warfield (Smoky Hill HS/Aurora, CO) was the catalyst for the Rams with an 11/15 day at the 'x,' including scoring an impressive goal in the third quarter. The Rams won a total of 16/23 draws on the afternoon. UNC struggled to clear throughout the contest, failing in nearly half of their 29 attempts.

CSU (2-0 overall) travels to Portland this week to take on two highly ranked teams in #18 Simon Fraser and #4 Chapman as part of the Southridge Lacrosse Classic.
