Shenandoah Falls to Elizabethtown in Blue Jays' Opener

While the teams were virtually even in face-off wins (12-11 Shenandoah), Elizabethtown dominated most every other category. The Blue Jays outshout their opposition 41-24.

Krausse's four goals came on a team-high seven shots. Shenandoah's Bryan Pope led all players with 11 attempts towards goal. Pope scored twice and Mac Hedrick three times to account for all five Hornet goals. Shawn Corcoran finished with four points on a pair of goals and a pair of helpers. Kline also ended up with four points, using an assist to aid his hat trick. Cory Boushell (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) scored twice, while Brian Hicks (Kingsville, Md./Fallston), Dan Patton (Media, Pa./Penncrest), Sean O'Neill (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop Shanahan), David Shatzer (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) and Colin Corcoran (Hershey, Pa./Cape Henry Collegiate (Va.)) each had one goal apiece for the Blue Jays, who got points from nine different players in the game.

Defensively Nick Thompson (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven), Kyle Lord (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) and Dillon McDevitt (Medford Lakes, N.J./Shawnee) each forced three turnovers to pace the Jays. McDevitt had four ground balls, Thompson and Lord each three. Brian Boring (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) topped all EC players with six ground balls. Brandon Costik (Middletown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) was 9 of 15 on face-offs and freshman David Latimore (Elizabethtown, Pa./Kiski School (Pa.)) won the Jays' other two face-offs on five attempts.

Elizabethtown will host its first opponent at Wolf Field this season next Saturday when Thiel pays the Jays a visit. The contest is the first even meeting between the two men's lacrosse programs, as Theil is in just its second season of existence.
