Colorado Mesa Bests Grizzlies in Season Opener

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The Colorado Mesa Mavericks held the Adams State Grizzlies scoreless for nearly the final 35 minutes, as the hosts blew open a tight 5-3 game to win the regular-season and Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association opener for both teams, by a 10-3 count, Saturday afternoon here at CMU's Walker Field.

The Mavericks scored five unanswered goals in the fourth quarter, as Austin Pridham netted a hat-trick.

Johnny Neal (Greenwood Village, Colo.), Jamison Bobo (Thornton, Colo.) and Anthony Damico (Littleton, Colo.) all scored for the Grizzlies, while Damico also added an assist. Defensively, the Grizzlies were paced by 14 saves from Ronnie Fernando (Lake Forest, Calif.) and 10 groundballs from Jordan Stillwagon (Littleton, Colo.).
