Roanoke Storms Past Hollins in ODAC Opener

ROANOKE -- Roanoke stormed out to a 17-0 halftime lead and never looked back as the Maroons defeated Hollins, 24-0 in their ODAC opener Wednesday afternoon. RC improved to 1-1, while Hollins dropped its first game of the season.

Allison Bonanno totaled a career-best 10 points with three goals and a career-high seven assists in the conference victory. Jamie Golden also had a career day, with four goals and four assists for eight points.

Freshman Darragh Evarts posted season-bests of five goals and three assists while Kathleen Wager finished with five goals and two assists. Rosie Knisley added a pair of goals and assists for the Maroons.

Roanoke dominated the contest in shots (36-0) and forced 18 Hollins turnovers. The Maroons were successful in all six clear attempts on the day.

The women will travel to Puerto Rico next week on their spring break trip to take on #17 Mary Washington in non-conference action. Game time is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
