Frostburg Edges Past Washington & Jefferson

W&J netted two of the three goals in the second quarter to slice the deficit in half. Freshman attacker Tim Angell (Andover, Mass./Governor's Academy) fired home the Presidents' first goal at the 3:03 mark, while senior attacker Mark Ringeling (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) scored off a pass from junior midfielder Dylan Haas (Damascus, Md./Poolesville) with 1:26 left in the half to trim to deficit to 4-2.

Senior attacker Andrew Wallick (Canton, Ohio/North Canton Hoover) deposited the Presidents' third-straight goal just under two minutes into the second half; however, Andy Luhmann broke the Bobcats' scoreless stretch at the 6:45 mark. Rios set up Devin Colegrove's goal two minutes later to up the FSU lead back to three.

W&J fought back with a goal from freshman attacker Zack Wootton (Westminster, Md./Glenelg Country School) late in the third period, but FSU had the answer once again with a goal set up by Rios 54 seconds into the fourth.

Following the lightning delay, the Presidents grabbed the momentum, using goals from junior attacker Joseph Eck (Boise, Idaho/Bishop Kelly) and Angell four minutes apart to close to within 7-6 with 6:55 left. The FSU defense stepped up from that point and allowed only one W&J shot, while Dowd provided the insurance goal. Haas dished out three assists for the Presidents, while Wallick (3 ground balls; 4 shots) and Eck (team-high 7 shots) both added one helper.

Rios led the Bobcat offense with one goal and two assists. Tyler Haines earned the win in goal after compiling eight saves. Frostburg State also won the faceoff battle with an 11-6 edge.

W&J plays on the road again Saturday when traveling to Ohio Wesleyan for a 1:00 pm game.
