Visiting Shenandoah Dominates Methodist

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Shenandoah University opened up its final USA South Conference slate with an 18-7 victory at Methodist University Saturday afternoon.

Playing in extremely soggy conditions, SU (2-1, 1-0 USA South) took a 10-1 halftime lead to take total control over the Monarchs (0-2, 0-1).

The Hornets tallied the first nine goals of the game, with junior Corrinne Kosmowski scoring the initial goal just 61 seconds into the contest and Samantha Donaghy getting what proved to be the game winner at the 8:12 mark of the first.

Freshman Mary Kogler assisted Kosmowski with sophomore Justina Ludwig getting the helper on Donaghy's goal.

Freshman Liz Bereit paced the victors with five goals and two assists while Kogler added five points on two goals and three assists.

Kosmowski and sophomore Samantha Sisson both had a hat trick with Amy Rollins adding two goals.

Junior Sydney Anderson rounded out the multiple point scorers with two assists.

SU outshot Methodist 30-13, scooped up 20 of 33 groundballs and won 18 of 27 draws.

Bereit had a team-high six draw controls.

Shenandoah travels to future ODAC foe Guilford for a Sunday non-league contest.
