Lebanon Valley Grabs First Win at Mount Saint Mary

NEWBURGH, N.Y. - Lebanon Valley scored five straight goals to open the game and never looked back, cruising past Mount Saint Mary (N.Y.) for a 15-8 win behind hat tricks from Matt Roupe and Malik Pedroso.

The Dutchmen (1-1) outshot the Knights (1-2) 38-26 as Roupe scored four and Pedroso turned in a seven-point game with three goals with four assists. Ian Schmid added a trio of helpers.

Scott Sutton went 11 for 21 on face-offs and snagged 10 ground balls while d-men Ryan Lanigan and Andrew Kruter caused three turnovers apiece. CJ Cardo led the Knights with four goals.

LVC led 2-0 inside two minutes as Roupe scored 55 seconds in before Jordan Mayr added a man-up goal a minute later. Lanigan, Roupe, and Alex Beard added goals to spot their team a 5-0 lead, but the Knights scored with one second left in the quarter to made it 5-1.

The Dutchmen piled on the goals in the second quarter, outscoring the Mount 5-2 thanks to a pair by Roupe and tallies from Mayr, Scott Travers, and a man-down goal by Pedroso.

The second half was more of the same as CJ Adams and Pedroso each scored twice.

Mike Moll made nine saves in the win, while Shawn Cobstill took the loss with 12 stops. LVC's ability to disrupt MSMC's transition was a key factor as the Knights made only 14 of 23 clear attempts.

LVC returns home Wednesday to face Centenary.
