Redlands Nets 11 Straight to Breezes by Linfield

University of Redlands capped off a solid showing in the Pacific Northwest with a 23-9 triumph over the Wildcats of Linfield College (OR) on Saturday. Once again, the Bulldogs built off of an early lead with prolific scoring and dominating defense en route to the squad's seventh win in a row.

After Redlands scored the first four netters of the game, the Wildcats pushed back to make it a two-goal game at 6-4.

However, the Bulldogs quickly responded by unleashing 11 consecutive goals to finish out the first frame with an impressive 17-4 lead. During this stretch, Redlands relied on a well-balanced attack that saw 10 different players score, with sophomore midfielder KK McCaslin (Portland, OR) notching two of her team-leading four goals.

The second half proved to be much tighter statistically, with Redlands holding a 6-5 advantage on scoring. But the Maroon and Gray's win was never in question.

Overall, the Bulldogs fired off an incredible 46 shots while holding Linfield to only 13.

Senior midfielder Megan Prickett (Poway, CA) provided an impressive performance with three goals, one assist, three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Junior attack player Crystal Painter (Lake George, NY) posted a hat trick of her own to go along with a pair of assists.

The Bulldogs converted 31 out of 33 clears, taking the ball from their defensive third to the other end of the field while keeping possession.

Redlands (7-0) returns home to Southern California for a scrimmage against Chapman University on March 9 at Aliso Viejo High School. The first draw is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
