Shepherd Outguns Tiffin for Road Victory
TIFFIN, Ohio. – Freshman attack Georgia Karr (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) had six goals and two assists, while junior midfielder Krista Tippett (Leonardtown, MD/Leonardtown) added five goals to lead Shepherd to a 19-14 win over Tiffin on Sunday.
Shepherd also got three goals and an assist from sophomore attack Nicole Ruane (Sykesville, MD/Century). Freshman attack Hayley Roper (California, MD/Leonardtown) and sophomore midfielder Jenny Cavey (Sykesville, MD/Westminster) each tallied two goals, while sophomore attack Hanna Wharton (Ijamsville, MD/Urbana) netted one.
Sophomore attack Christina Ferrara (California, MD/Leonardtown) recorded a game-high four assists, while Roper added a pair of assists.
Alexandria Quast had a game-high eight goals to pace Tiffin.
Tiffin had a 5-3 advantage after Quast scored her third goal with 15:09 left in the half, but Shepherd closed the half on a 7-2 run and took a 10-7 lead into intermission.
Tiffin closed to within a goal at 14-13 in teh second half after a tally by Kaitlin Clarke off an Alexis McMillan feed with 9:59 remaining, but Shepherd closed the game on a 5-1 run to seal the win.
Freshman netminder Lily Schmulowitz (Baltimore, MD/Catonsville) recorded four saves, while Jessica Bombard had 20 saves for the Tiffin.
Shepherd had a 45-25 advantage in shots and a 36-29 edge in ground balls.
The Rams improve to 4-0 on the season, while Tiffin falls to 0-1. The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Millersville for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
