No. 2 Le Moyne Breezes Past East Stroudsburg
East Stroudsburg, Pa. – Junior midfielder Gabrielle Kamide (Deferiet, N.Y./Carthage) registered eight points on six goals and two assists to lead second-ranked Le Moyne to a 17-4 win over East Stroudsburg on Monday afternoon in non-conference at Whitenight Field.
Kamide got the Dolphins on the scoreboard just 56 seconds into the game after taking a pass from freshman midfielder Laura Hoffman (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua). Just under seven minutes later, senior All-American midfielder Brittany Brigandi (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/UMass) doubled Le Moyne's lead by scoring off a free-position shot.
Sarah Ginn pulled the Warriors within a goal with 20:32 remaining in the half off a pass from Maure Perrymond.
Following a scoring drought of eight and one-half minutes, the Dolphins scored three times in a span of 36 seconds. Junior attacker Kelly Condon (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) finished off a pass from Kamide at the 13:34 mark, Brigandi followed with an unassisted tally with 13:08 left and Kamide won the ensuing draw and raced down field for her second goal of the day with 12:58 remaining.
The Dolphins increased their lead to 6-1 with 8:25 to go in the half as freshman Catie McKay (Penfield, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) found the back of the net off a feed from Kamide. Three and one-half minutes later, Brigandi beat the goalkeeper after taking a pass from Condon.
Grace Gunkel ended Le Moyne's 5-0 run by converting a free-position shot with 3:11 until the intermission. Kamide capped the scoring in the half by finishing off a pass from McKay with 1:12 to go.
The Dolphins got into double digits by scoring twice in the opening nine minutes of the second half. Junior attacker Brenna Bauer (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) gave Le Moyne a 9-2 lead with 26:04 left off a pass from sophomore Victoria Nies (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt). Five minutes later, Nies scored off a pass from classmate Kathleen Conese (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool).
After Nicole Miller scored off a free-position shot with 18:00 to go to get East Stroudsburg within 10-3, the Dolphins scored seven straight goals to put the game away. Brigandi scored the first with 15:36 left off a pass from Condon. Freshman attacker Sam Yaro (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) scored her first collegiate goal at the 10:19 mark off a feed from Bauer.
Kamide then scored a pair of unassisted goals in a span of 1:41 around an unassisted tally by Brigandi to give the Dolphins a 15-3 advantage. Bauer registered her seventh goal of the season with 4:05 remaining off a free-position shot, while Kamide finished off Le Moyne's scoring and equaled her goal total from last year with 2:35 to go off a pass from Yaro.
Ginn scored off a rebound with one second left to end the game's scoring.
Senior goalkeeper Kelly Fucillo (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) made nine saves to pick up the win between the pipes. Amanda Simms stopped nine shots in taking the loss for the Warriors.
