Thomas Can't Find the Net at St. Joseph's (ME)

Portland, Maine Thomas College fell 16-0 on the road to the Monks of St. Joseph's (Maine) in a non-conference matchup Tuesday afternoon. With the loss the Terriers fall to 0-2 (0-0 NAC), while the home-standing Monks improve to 1-1.

The early minutes of the first quarter saw both team struggle to possess the ball as both teams committed eight first quarter turnovers, but it was the Monks who opened the scoring at the 3:50 mark when Dalton Eldridge sent a shot the seemed to hit the cross bar, but the games officials raised their arms declaring his shot a goal putting the Monks up 1-0. The Monks railed off two more goals to close out the quarter giving them a 3-0 lead.

The Monks continued to roll offensively as they outshoot the Terriers 20-3 in the second quarter and took a 7-0 lead into the break.

The Monks continued to dominate the game in the second half as the Terriers continued to struggle on offense. Jonathan Hogan finished out the game with a five goal performance for the Monks as they shut out the Terriers the rest of the way for the 16-0 win.

Thomas' Jesse Morkeski put up a respectful 13 save performance between the pipes, while senior Derek Racine came in relief in the fourth quarter stopping three Monks shots. Christopher Driscoll picks up the win for St. Joe's with a six saves against six shots performance.

The Terriers are back at it on Saturday what they take on Mass. Maritime at Colby College.
