Avengers Get Program's First-Ever Win

New York, NY--- A beautiful night in New York City got even better as ASA pulled out their first win ever as a program against Columbia University, 12-9. The win is ASA's first in only two games, a great feat for a team in their first season of competition ever.

ASA would take the 1-0 lead midway through the first quarter on a Hunter Curran goal and would never trail. Curran would add another goal and would also finish with an assist on the night. Freshman standout Casey Jackson would lead the Avengers in points on the evening finishing with a game-high five goals and four assists.

Freshman midfielder Brandon Goodwin and freshman attack Ryan Watson also had stellar games each finishing with two goals and two assists. Freshman attack Coltin Borthwick added a goal for the Avengers and freshman midfielder Parris Douglass dropped off an assist.

Freshman goalie Blake Duncan started between the sticks and recorded 12 saves for ASA. Freshman Kyle Hubbard would share time in goal finishing with 9 saves.

The Avengers improve to 1-1 overall with the win. ASA will have a day off before heading down to Maryland for back-to back games. On Saturday, March 10th, the Avengers will be taking on Northern Virginia CC at 6:00 pm. Sunday, March 11th, will play Harford CC at 1:00 pm. Both games will be played at Harford CC's home field in Bel Air, MD.
