With the victory, the Engineers move to 2-0 on the young season, while Battling Bishops are now 2-1 overall.

Much like their season opener, the Engineers came out ready to play, scoring three straight goals for a 3-0 advantage with 20:29 left in the first half. Junior Shannon Maguire (Randolph, NJ/Randolph), who had three goals last week, kicked things off with a free position tally, followed by goals from senior Madeline Sisson (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) and Scofield (Albany, NY/South Colonie).

Ohio Wesleyan battled back on an unassisted tally from rookie Abbie Love (Bainbridge Island, WA/Bainbridge) at 16:12, but Rensselaer answered as senior Emma Albert (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) scored on the free position and sophomore Marissa Page (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) found the back of the net to make it a 5-1 game.

The Battling Bishops one again cut the score to three (5-2), but RPI netted three goals in the final 4:06 of the half for an 8-2 lead. Leading the way for the Engineers on the final drive was Denny (Lusby, MD/Patuxent) and Scofield, along with the first career goal for rookie Jamie Wakefield (Windsor, CT/Windsor).

In the second half, Scofield and sophomore Julia Wright (Bedford, NH/Bishop Guertin) made it a 10-2 advantage in the first two minutes, but Ohio Wesleyan worked to pull themselves back in, netting a pair of goals to make it an 11-4 game with 16:50 left to play.

Sophomore Meg Colitz (East Greenbush, RI/LaSalle Academy), who netted a game-best five goals in the season opener, tallied and was quickly followed over the next two minutes by goals from Sisson and Denny to push the advantage back to 10 (14-4).

Ohio Wesleyan continued to fight down the stretch, scoring five goals over the final 10:20 of the contest but it wasn't enough as the Engineers held on behind a nine save performance from junior netminder Allie Arnal (Lakewood, NY/Philips Exeter Academy).

In addition to Denny and Scofield who also had an assist the Engineers were led by a pair of goals from Sisson, who also added two helpers. Sophomore Liz Powell (Camillus, NY/West Genesee) added two goals, while Maguire chipped in with a goal and an assist.

For the Battling Bishops, junior Annie Swanson (McLean, VA/Langley) led the team with two goals, while sophomore Theresa Wolfgang (Medina, OH/Medina) and senior Kat Enders (Lake Oswego, OR/St. Mary's Academy) each added a goal and an assist. Between the pipes, senior Lauren Figy (Westfield, MA/Westfield) had 18 saves.

The Engineers are back in action on Wednesday, closing out their SpringFling Tournament against Curry College at 7:30 pm. RPI last faced Curry in Florida during the 2008 season, beating Colonels by a 15-12 margin. Ohio Wesleyan faces New England College on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. to close out play in Florida.
