Strong 1st Half Propels Purple Knights by Adams State

BELMONT, Calif. - Saint Michael's started its Spring Break trip to California and had 14 different players register a point during an eventual, 18-7, victory over Adams State (Colo.) on Monday at Notre Dame de Namur's Koret Field. The Purple Knights improve to 2-1, while the Grizzlies drop to 1-3.

Junior Marty Vanzo (Westford, Vt./Essex/Vermont) led the Purple Knights with three markers and one assist, while seniors Paul Tortora Jr. (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) and Max Zuccarini (Medfield, Mass./Medfield/Quinnipiac) each contributed four points with two goals and two assists and one tally and three helpers respectively.

Sophomore Connor Glackin (South Huntington, N.Y./Saint Anthony's) added two goals and one assist, senior Kevin Hunt (Johnstown, N.Y./Johnstown) and Evan Antolino (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) had one marker and two assists each, while junior Pete Donnally (Madison, N.J./Morristown-Beard School) found the back of the net twice. Freshman Matt Dromeshauser (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) tallied his first collegiate goal and finished with an assist as well.

Sophomore Chris DeMairo (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) finished with six saves and earned the victory. Sophomore Andrew Landers (Manchester, Mass./Proctor Academy) and freshman Dylan Florian (West Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford/Sacred Heart) also saw time in net and finished with five and three saves respectively.

Sophomore Bryden Pelletier (Lantxvile, British Columbia/Dover Bay/Presbyterian (S.C.)) and classmate Anthony Damico (Littleton, Colo./Araphoe) led the Grizzlies with two goals and one assist apiece.

Damico put the Grizzlies on the board first at 13:20 of the first quarter, but then the Purple Knights tallied seven straight goals. Adams State tallied 24 seconds into the second quarter before the Purple Knights pushed the lead to 14-2 with seven straight tallies as Saint Michael's responded less than a minute later and scored four goals in a 2:27 stretch.

The Purple Knights put home three more goals after the Grizzlies found the back of the net midway through the third frame and then Adams State tallied three goals in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter before Saint Michael's tacked on one more.

The Purple Knights continue their California spring break trip as they play at Dominican on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. ET/4:00 p.m. PT.
