Kessler Ties Record as Oxy Routs UPS
Sarah Kessler (Portland, Ore.) tied the single-game Oxy scoring record, and Occidental College set a new single-game scoring record with a 25-9 rout of Puget Sound at Jack Kemp Stadium on Tuesday.
Kessler, Oxy's all-time leading goal scorer, matched teammate and fellow Portland Native Isabel Osgood-Roach's record with eight goals. The junior needed just 10 shots to score eight goals.
Oxy as a team broke its previous high of 20 goals set in a 20-11 win over Whitter earlier this season on March 3.
The Tigers (6-1, 3-1 SCIAC) continue the best season in the program's brief, three-year history. In just seven games this season, they've matched last year's overall and conference win totals. Their six-game winning streak is the best in school history.
Tori Larson (Denver, Colo.) had four goals and Rebecca Belding had three goals and an assist for Oxy.
