Crusaders Score Four Goals Late to Edge Vermont

The Crusaders (4-3) netted the next three to cut it to 6-4 with 5:33 to go in the third quarter. Worley made it a three-goal game with his sixth tally of the season 4:07 later and Philie added his fourth of the night to make it 8-5 with 10:46 remaining.

Holy Cross' Clay Haarmann knotted the score at 8-8 with 4:22 to go and he then scored the game-winner with 30 seconds left. Haarmann tallied three goals on the night, while James Kennedy had four goals and two assists.

Senior Alex Plavner earned the start in goal for the Catamounts, making seven saves, while his counterpart Kenny O'Connor had eight stops. Vermont finished the game 3-for 5 on extra man opportunities. With the four goals, Philie has now scored at least one point in 26 straight games and has eight goals in the last two meetings with the Crusaders.

Vermont returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Sacred Heart at Virtue Field starting at 1:00 p.m.
