Wenk Nets Five as Bucknell Breezes by Saint Francis

LORETTO, Pa. --Ryan Wenk scored a career-high five goals, doubling her season total in the process, leading Bucknell to its first road win of the season, 21-8 over Saint Francis (Pa.) in a non-league game Tuesday evening. Emily Kookogey tacked on four goals and Katelyn Miller had another dominant game in the midfield, posting two goals, an assist, seven ground balls and four draw controls.

Arriana Sajjad recorded three goals, Lindsey Ferro had three assists, Madison Hurwitz tallied two goals and two assists, and Sophie Kleinert also scored twice for the Bison, who now have 53 goals in their last three games. All told, 12 different players recorded a point for Bucknell, which improved to 2-6 on the season. The team's other victory also came by a 21-8 margin, over Presbyterian last week.

Bucknell jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Adrienne Wendling and Kookogey in the first three minutes of the game. The lead was 3-2 later in the half when the Bison broke it open with a 6-0 run. Blair McDonald made it a 9-2 game with 15:53 left in the half, and by the time Sajjad scored with 11 seconds remaining, the lead had ballooned to 13-4.

The second half was all Bucknell as well. The Bison outscored the Red Flash 8-1 over the first 25 minutes of the period, with Kleinert's goal on a free-position shot giving them a 21-5 lead. Saint Francis scored the game's final three goals in the last 3:30 of play.

Bucknell finished with a 35-18 edge in shots and a 24-18 lead in ground balls. The Bison protected the ball very well, going 15 for 16 on clears while committing only nine turnovers all night.

Miller's seven ground balls were a career high and one shy of the Bucknell single-game record. Sajjad led the squad with five draw controls, while defender Andrea Feldman had a team-high three caused turnovers.

Caroline O'Neill had a strong game in goal with eight saves and only five goals against in 51:15 of action.

Danielle Conwell led the Red Flash with three goals and an assist.

Bucknell is back in action at home on Saturday against Lehigh at noon.
