No. 4 Eagles Roll in Opener at No. 13 Florida Southern

LAKELAND, Fla. The No. 4 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (1-0) opened its 2012 season tonight with a solid 16-11 win over host and 13th ranked Florida Southern (6-1).

The Lady Eagles got 16 goals from eight different players and The Haven's defense was solid in the second half as Lock Haven cruised tonight in the Sunshine State.

Jessica Pandolf (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) and Elyse Fisher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) led the scoring charge as each player netted four goals.

Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) was sensational and had a seven-point night for LHU. She scored a pair of goals and assisted five others.

Chelsea Borrino (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) also scored two goals.

Pandolf added three ground balls, two caused turnovers and two assists in all-around spectacular effort.

Clare Gaeng (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson) and Melinda Wojt (Telford, Pa./Souderton) led a sensational Haven effort on defense.

Goalies Heather Sacko (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and Nicole Necci (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) combined for 10 saves.

Gwen Buss (Harrisburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy), Emily Cilla (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park), Kelly Hamilton (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) and Julie Moran (Unionville, Pa./Unionville) all added goals for The Haven.

The Lady Eagles return to action Thursday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m. when they take on Rollins. Both LHU and Rollins were ranked fourth in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Assocation (IWLCA) National Poll.
