Muhlenberg Wins Shootout with Lebanon Valley

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Lebanon Valley ended up on the wrong end of a shootout, falling 20-13 at Muhlenberg despite getting seven goals from Hana Krechel.

The Dutchmen (2-2) were outshot only 31-29 by the Mules (3-0), but couldn't catch up after a 4-0 run by the hosts midway through the first half blew open a tie game.

Krechel scored seven to go with a school-record 10 draw controls, and Taylor Kruter scored twice. Allison McGinniss, Suzanne Sullivan, Mel Modrick and Bailey Benz added goals, and Anna Pagels caused four turnovers with six ground balls.

Michelle Certosimo and Molly Davin led Muhlenberg with five and four goals, respectively, and Stephanie Umbach had a pair with three assists. The Mules controlled the draw 21-14.

The game was 4-4 before four straight goals by Muhlenberg doubled the Dutchmen up, on the way to a 12-7 halftime lead. LVC pulled as close as three goals at 13-10 and was still in striking distance at 15-11, but another four-goal spurt in a four-minute span by Muhlenberg put the game out of reach in the closing moments.

Corinne Palombo took the loss in 15 minutes of play with a save; Erica Ameigh stopped seven in the balance. Tiffany Kreider had seven saves to pick up the win.

LVC returns home Saturday to host Immaculata.
