Shenandoah Falls Behind Early, Loses at Ferrum
FERRUM, Va. - Host Ferrum College used a strong start to earn a 17-6 non-league men's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah University Saturday afternoon.
Ferrum (4-5) scored four of the game's first five goals and never looked back against the Hornets (0-8).
Shenandoah actually scored the game's first goal, on a Courtney Ledden to Mac Hedrick tally at 11:09 of the first, but the Panthers had an answer.
FC tied the game 61 seconds later before taking a lead it would not relinquish when Nick Smith scored at 7:44.
The Hornets were held off the board until Bryan Pope scored 87 seconds before halftime. Pope's goal made it 8-2 in favor of the Panthers.
David Estoclet then tallied unassisted one second before the halftime gun.
Ferrum outshot Shenandoah 65-16 including 39-10 in shots on goal. The Panthers also had a 16-10 advantage in faceoffs and won the groundball battle 41-28.
Estoclet led the Hornets with two goals.
Junior Tyler Quinn had a career-high 20 saves in 50:35 of game action.
Shenandoah is off until traveling to nationally ranked Cabrini next Saturday for its final CSAC opener.
