Scranton Edges Lycoming in Game at St. Paul's
Scranton scored the next three goals to take a 4-3 lead, though before Romano found Farrell and Romano scored five minutes late to give Lycoming the lead back. A goal by Scranton's Mike Rufo tied the game at five at the break.
In the third quarter, senior Ethan Payne (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) scored first, but Scranton added a pair of goals to mark the fourth lead change of the contest. Farrell scored unassisted with 2:25 left in the quarter to tie the game heading into the deciding fourth quarter.
Senior Tim Clemente (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) led the Warriors with eight groundballs and Romano posted a goal and three assists to go with two groundballs. Junior Matt Doherty (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) added three groundballs.
Rufo led the Royals with three goals and two assists and Dillon McInerney posted three goals. Taylor Nelson notched a goal and two assists and Matt Finor picked up six groundballs.
In net, sophomore Andrew Hauks (Sackets Harbor, N.Y./Immaculate Heart) made 10 saves for the Warriors while Ben Worthington stopped six shots and picked up seven groundballs for the Royals.
Lycoming will look to snap its three-game skid on Wednesday, March 21, they head to Pittsford, N.Y., to face St. John Fisher at 4:00 p.m.
