Big First Half Run Propels Marywood Past Cabrini

Scranton, PA Taylor McKeown scored five goals and Diana D'Achille netted the 100th goal of her career on Saturday as Marywood used a big first half run to top Cabrini, 16-5 in CSAC action on Saturday afternoon. The Pacers improve to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play with the key league victory, while the Cavaliers slip to 1-2 overall and 1-1 on the CSAC.

Marywood held a 2-0 lead after just 2:21 had elapsed in Saturday's game behind goals from Kimberly Commisso and McKeown. Cabrini responded with back-to-back tallies from Christi Pasquariello and Sarah Carzo to level the score at 2-2 with 19:37 to play, but the Pacers would score the final 11 goals of the first half to hold a 13-2 advantage at the intermission.

McKeown and Sarah Caughy each netted three goals during the run, while D'Achille added two goals, including the 100th of her career during the spurt. Commisso, Kelly Kryspin, and Brooke Bondurant also found the back of the net as the Pacers seized control of the game over the second half of the opening 30 minutes of play.

McKeown's fifth goal of the afternoon 2:32 into the second half stretched Marywood's lead to 14-2 before goals from Lacie Doubet and Shaela Allen brought Cabrini to within ten at 14-4. Caughy and D'Achille tacked on goals for Marywood before Allen closed out the scoring for the Cavaliers with her second tally of the afternoon with 10:43 to play.

McKeown's five goals led all players while Caughy (4 goals), D'Achille (3 goals, 1 assist), Commisso (2 goals, 1 assist), Bondurant (1 goal, 2 assists), and Kryspin (1 goal, 1 assist) all had multi-point performances in the win for Marywood. The Pacers held a 26-19 advantage in shots for the game and claimed 16 of the game's 22 draw controls.

Leigha Dolcemascolo went the distance in Marywood's cage and made seven saves to pick up the win. Ilze Spilde led the Pacers with six groundballs and four caused turnovers on the defensive end.

The Cavaliers, who were paced by Allen's two goals on the afternoon, got six saves in net from Janel Folkomer.

Marywood will enjoy a week off before traveling to St. Thomas Aquinas next Saturday for a non-conference games scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. in Sparkill, NY.
