Unbeaten No. 7 Colby Beats Buffalo State in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. -- A long day of travel Saturday did not seem to bother the seventh-ranked Colby College women's lacrosse team after taking a 17-8 win over Buffalo State in a non-conference game Sunday night in Florida.

The Mules improve to 4-0 overall and will meet Hamilton College in a league game Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. on the team's spring break trip. Hamilton just fell to Buffalo State last week.

Sarah Lux finished with two goals and five assists to power the Mules, while Alex Mintz had three goals and one assist. Katharine Eddy chipped in with two goals and three assists, Lane McVey had two goals and one assist, Katie Griffin and Lindsey McKenna each had two goals, and Kate Pistel had one goal and one assist. The Mules also received goals from Hilary Barr, Sara Miller, and Abby Hatch.

The Mules were up 7-1 in the first half and took a 9-3 lead into intermission. Colby scored the opening four goals of the second half to take a 10-goal lead. However, Buffalo State fought back with four straight goals of its own to cut the margin to 13-7. After calling time, the Mules relaxed and allowed just one goal the rest of the way.

Michelle Burt had 13 saves in goal for the Mules.
