Sixth-Ranked Colby Edges No. 13 Hamilton in Fla.

CLERMONT, Fla. -- Claire Donegan (Great Falls, Va.) scored the game-winning goal with 9:05 left in the contest and Kate Pistel (Amherst, Mass.) added an insurance goal as sixth-ranked Colby broke a 9-9 tie on the way to an 11-9 victory over 13th-ranked Hamilton on Tuesday at the National Training Center.

The Mules stay unbeaten at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, while Hamilton falls to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the league. Colby will finish its Florida trip with a 9:30 a.m. league game with 10th-ranked Tufts University on Friday.

Sophomore attacker Lindsey McKenna (Fairfield, Conn.) had three goals for the Mules, while sophomore midfielder Katharine Eddy added one goal and three assists. McKenna has 12 goals and two assists this season and reached 55 career goals in just 25 games. Eddy leads the team in scoring with eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points and already has equaled last year's season point total (20 games, 16 goals, 4 assists) in just five games.

The Mules held a 6-3 lead at halftime, but Hamilton chipped away in the second half and tied the game at 9-9 with about 12 minutes to play. Donegan, who scored her big goal 2:55 later, had one goal and one assist to move her career point total to 120 (54 goals, 66 assists). After Pistel's goal with 7:12 to play, the Mules did a solid job of taking time off the clock with their possessions.

Lane McVey (Bronxville, N.Y.) and Alex Mintz (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) both had one goal and one assist for the Mules. Lucy Gerrity (Cumberland, Maine) and Sarah Lux (Fayetteville, N.Y.) also tallied, while Hilary Barr (Ridgewood, N.J.) and Tess Petesch (Rockville, Md.) had one assist.

Claire Dickson (Darien, Conn.) played 45 minutes in goal and earned the victory with five saves. Michelle Burt (Woodbridge, Conn.) added two saves for the Mules. Kirsten Karis (Southborough, Mass.) had three ground balls, while Kat McCarrick (Wellesley, Mass.) had two ground balls and one caused turnover.

Madison Beres (Chestertown, Md.) and Kathryn Maiorano (Chatham, N.J.) each had three goals for Hamilton.
