Swarthmore Corrals the Mules for First CC Victory

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Sophomore Daniel Kowalyshyn scored three goals and seniors Zach Belden and Max Hubbard each netted a pair, as Swarthmore College (4-3, 1-1) defeated Muhlenberg 9-6 to earn its first Centennial Conference victory of the year on Wednesday evening.

Sophomore Jonathan Molloy and freshman Ian Lukaszewicz also scored for the Garnet, which has already equaled its win total for the entire 2011 season.

Senior Michael Brockway had a big day in net, making 14 saves - including five huge stops in the fourth quarter.

The defense as a whole played some of its best lacrosse of the entire season, limiting the Mules (2-6, 0-2) to just one second-half goal on 19 shots. Sophomore Geli Carabases led the defense with four caused turnovers and four ground balls. Junior Steve Selverian (Garnet Valley) finished with four ground balls and won 6 of 12 faceoffs.
