No. 15 Polar Bears Hold off Continentals

Mehlhorn's goal made it 3-1 with 13:23 left in the second quarter. Reis sandwiched a pair of man-up goals around a tally by Bergner, and the Polar Bears led 6-1 with 6:51 remaining in the half. Hughes and Flibotte added goals before halftime to give Bowdoin an 8-1 lead at the break.

Sadoff's goal with 5:48 remaining in the fourth quarter pulled the Continentals to within 12-9. But that was as close as Hamilton could get, as Hanley closed the scoring with a goal for the Polar Bears with 3:07 to play.

Hamilton held a 35-32 shot advantage and committed just 14 turnovers. Bowdoin picked up 41 ground balls to the Continentals' 28, and was 5 for 10 on extra-man opportunities. The Polar Bears won 19 of 26 faceoffs. Bowdoin has won all four meetings between the teams. It was the first time the teams have played since 2004.

Hamilton hosts nationally ranked Middlebury College for a NESCAC game on Wednesday, March 28, at 4:00 p.m. Bowdoin hosts Springfield College for a non-conference game on Tuesday, March 27, at 7:00 p.m.
