Second Half Rally Falls Short as Eagles Fall to Griffins

WATERBURY, Conn. Post University cut an eight-goal second half deficit to as few as four tallies, but the Eagles rally fell short as they dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to Chestnut Hill on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field. The final score was 20-16.

Freshman Eryka Baez (Clifton, N.J.) had a goal and two assists.

With 10:03 to play in the second half, and Post (1-7, 0-5 CACC) behind 16-8, the Eagles scored three straight goals to cut the deficit to five, 16-11, with 8:11 remaining. Michalak scored all three goals, and the last one came off a feed from Baez.

Post got as close as four, 19-15, with 1:56 to play in regulation after a 4-1 spurt over a span of 4:44. Kanavy started the run, while Baez, Michalak and Diggett scored the last three goals of the stretch. Diggett's tally with 1:56 to play was a free-position goal.

After Kanavy gave Post a 1-0 lead 29 seconds into the game, Chestnut Hill (1-2, 1-4 CACC) scored the next five goals to take a 5-1 lead with 15:14 to play in the opening half. Sophomore Meghan Diggett (East Islip, N.Y.) cut the deficit to three, 5-2, with 12:14 to play on her first goal of the game off a pass from Kanavy.
