Maritime Roughed Up by Potsdam
After the teams traded the first two goals of the final quarter, the Bears closed the game with a 5-0 run. Potsdam got the first goals of the season from sophomore defenseman Jeff Love (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart) and senior attackman Chris Mazzeo (Bellmore, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) and freshman attackman Zack Basso (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) notched the first goal of his career.
In goal, senior Mike Quinlan (Buffalo, N.Y./Williamsville South) stopped seven shots in the first 51:29 and junior Stephan Sloma (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) stopped both shots he faced in the final 8:31. Privateer goalie Zack Barbuto allowed 15 goals in 54:15 and made 15 saves. Tyler Donovan allowed three goals in the final 5:45.
Potsdam outshot Maritime 44-24 and picked up 47 ground balls to the Privateers 34. John Driscoll led Maritime with a goal and two assists.
The Bears are back in action on Tuesday, March 27, when they host St. Lawrence at 4:00 p.m.
