Harvard Powers Past Dartmouth for a 2-0 Ivy Start

Senior Kip Dooley (Minneapolis, Minn.) led Dartmouth with a hat trick and an assist for four points. He scored a goal in the second and two goals in the fourth quarter. The Big Green had two other players with two goals. Senior Colin Delaney (Darien, Conn.) and sophomore Brendan Rotanz (Westport, Conn.) each had two scores.

Delaney opened the contest with a goal three minutes after the opening faceoff, but the Crimson registered the final four goals of the quarter. The Big Green recorded three goals in the second with each coming from a different player. Dartmouth headed into halftime down, 7-4. Rotanz cut the lead to two with 10:51 left in the third, but Harvard responded with its four-goal stretch a minute later. The Big Green scored four goals in the final frame, but the Crimson matched Dartmouth goal for goal.

Harvard took advantage of its man-up situations going 5 for 7. The Big Green failed to score with the extra man for the second consecutive game, finishing 0 for 5 on Saturday. The two teams each took 36 shots. Senior Fergus Campbell (New Canaan, Conn.) took the loss despite making 12 saves. Harvard's Jake Gambitsky made seven saves earning the victory.

Dartmouth returns home next weekend when it hosts third-ranked Cornell on Saturday, March 31, at 1:00 p.m. It marks the first home game for the Big Green since they hosted Bellarmine on March 6.
