Maritime Drops Skyline Contest at Ramapo

MAHWAH, N.J. (March 24, 2012) Maritime traveled to the Garden State for its first away game of the season and lost to Skyline foe Ramapo by the score of 15-3. The Privateers fall to 1-4 (0-2 Skyline) on the season, while the Roadrunners improve to (3-3, 1-1 Skyline).

Senior Kristen Saporito (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) scored two goals for Maritime, while classmate Catherine Brady (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) added the other tally for the Privateers. Brady also had a team-high four draw controls, while freshmen Charlotte Acklin (Lewes, Del./West Broward) and Tessa Jardine (Lewes, Del./West Broward) both led Maritime with three caused turnovers.

In net, making her first collegiate start was senior Laura Palino (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) and she made eight great saves in the losing effort.

Ramapo was led by two players who scored four goals Amanda Barretta (4G, 2A) and Colleen Steel (4G). Adrianna Tepedino chipped in with five points (3G, 2A), while in goal, Reagan Vier earned the victory after making six saves in nearly 50 minutes.

The Privateers return to action Wednesday night, March 28, when they travel to Farmingdale State to take on the Rams in Skyline Conference action. The game is set to get underway at 4:00 p.m. at FSC's Lacrosse Complex.
