Pacers Defeated in Shootout at St. Thomas Aquinas

Sparkill, NY –Tied 8-8 at halftime Division II St. Thomas Aquinas outscored visiting Marywood 14-7 in the second half to defeat the Pacers 22-15 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon in Sparkill, NY. The Spartans improve to 3-2 on the season with the win, while the Pacers' record drops to 5-2.

Marywood built an 8-4 lead at halftime behind two goals from Sarah Caughy and Kimberly Commisso, and single tallies from Kathy DiGiacomo, Kimberly Commisso, Taylor McKeown, and Kelly Kryspin.

The two teams traded goals over the beginning of the second half with Spartans building a 20-13 lead with 5:41 to play, but St. Thomas Aquinas held on for the 22-15 victory.

Margaret Sharp led the Spartans with eight points on seven goals and one assist. Genevieve Stickney added six points and one helper while Anne Buttafucco netted four goals. The Spartans held a 40-39 edge in shots for the game and a 42-29 advantage in groundballs for the game and Stephanie Nelson made four saves to pick up the win in goal for the Spartans.

Caughy paced Marywood's attack with four points on three goals and one assists while D'Achille (2 goals, one assist), McKeown (2 goals), and Bondurant (1 goal, 1 assist), registered multi-point performances. Leigha Dolcemascolo was credited with two saves in the loss.

Marywood will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Chester, PA to take on Widener University in a non-conference tilt scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
