Pfeiffer Dominates Second Half to Down Rival Queens

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Trailing 7-3 at the half, Pfeiffer roared back to score five goals in the third and fourth quarters to secure a 13-10 Conference Carolinas victory over Queens on Saturday afternoon. The win moves the Falcons to 8-3 overall, 2-0 in league play while sending the Royals to 4-4, 0-1.

James Shepherd started the day's scoing 1:45 into the contest while Tucker Hammock later tallied an equalizing goal with 5:08 remaining in the first. Shepherd would hit again just over a minute later as each team saw a 3-3 score after the first 15 minutes.

Queens took control scoring all four goals in the second quarter with two of those coming in a man-up situation. Three of the Royals goals on the day came with the advantage as Pfeiffer committed six penalties on the day for 4:30. Queens would end up with eight totaling 6:30.

Justin Rose would start the Falcon comeback with his only goal of the day just 44 ticks after the break. Hammock would assist on a Shepherd goal two minutes later while Cole Sheen and Steven Tilmon hit back-to-back just 32 seconds apart. Sheen would close out the third quarter while his second of three as Pfeiffer squared the contest at eight-all heading into the fourth.

Robert Hope would give the hosts the lead for good 1:35 into the final period on another assist from Hammock. Hammock would add insurance just a couple of minutes later while Sheen, Elliot Gilbert and Shepherd added three more in the closing minutes.

Hayden Kirk would stop eight shots in goal for the win while Luke Gillespie picked up four groundballs.

Pfeiffer returns to competition on Wednesday hosting Belmont Abbey at 4:00 p.m.

MISENHEIMER, N.C. Queens University of Charlotte traveled to face Pfeiffer University this afternoon in men's lacrosse action falling 13-10 to the Falcons. The Royals' record now sits at 4-4 (0-1 CC), while Pfeiffer improves to 8-3 (2-0 CC).

After James Shepard of the Falcons notched the first goal of the game 1:45 into play, the Royals scored two in a row taking a 2-1 lead. Pfeiffer would answer with two more, one coming from Shepard again, for a short lived 3-2 lead before T. C. Whaley of Queens tied the game up at 3-3.

Queens took control scoring all four goals in the second quarter with two of those coming in a man-up situation. Evan Farkas scored both of his goals in the second. Queens headed into the breaks with a 7-3 lead.

However, the third and fourth quarters of the game featured an attacking Falcons squad that outscored the Royals 10-3 as they took the win right out of Queens' hands.

Corey Geroy, Farkas and Whaley led Queens with three points apiece after each tallied two goals and an assists. Andrew Hyland took the loss in the net after collecting 12 saves.

The Falcons were led by Shepard who finished with four goals. Cole Sheen scored three goals, while Tucker Hammock chipped in with two. Hayden Kirk took the win in goal after getting eight stops.

The Royals return to competition on Wednesday, March 28 at 4:00 p.m. at Wingate University.
