Wesley Outgunned by Visiting Frostburg State

DOVER, Del. Alyssa Prudente scored a game-high six points on five goals and an assist, but it was not enough as Wesley fell to Frostburg State, 18-11, in a windy Saturday afternoon at Scott D. Miller Stadium. The Wolverines fall to 4-6 overall and 0-4 in the Capital Athletic Conference.

After tying the Wesley career assist record last game, Prudente assisted on a Kaylee Miller goal with 1:57 left in regulation to break the program record. Earlier in the game, she tied and broke the Wolverines all-time points record, with the breaker coming at 28:39 in the second half when she scored off a Nina Cornog assist.

Prudente now has 57 assists and 172 points in her career. Her 115 career goals are third all-time, thirty off Laura MacDougall's record of 145.

Wesley took the early lead as Jessica Franklin and Jen Jacobs scored on free position shots to give the Wolverines a 2-0 lead nearly five minutes in. Frostburg then scored the next seven goals before the Navy & White closed out the first half on a 4-0 run to go into the break down, 7-6.

After a Bobcats goal 25 seconds in to the second, Prudente found the back of the net, but FSU scored the next three to go up 11-7 with 23:28 left to play.

A senior from Hereford, Md., Prudente scored three more goals but the Bobcats were in the midst of a 7-3 run to put the game out of reach.

Franklin also recorded a hat trick for the Wolverines while Jacobs (2g) and Cornog (2a) also had multi-point afternoons. Tristin Burris had a team-high five draw controls while Elizabeth Groom caused three of Wesley's 11 caused turnovers.

In goal, Alyssa Batty made 13 saves in the loss and a team-high five ground balls.

Mallory Brunett led the Bobcats with six goals while Kaitlyn Dudley (4g) and Megan White (3g, 1a) also had big games. Naomi Swann and Karoline Miller both made eight saves in 30 minutes of playing time.

The Wolverines are back in action on Wednesday, March 28 when they travel to Stevenson University for a 3:00 pm CAC matchup.
