Robert Morris Scores Final Three to Edge Monmouth
The two teams would trade goals one more time in the opening 30 minutes of play, allowing Robert Morris (3-7 overall, 1-1 NEC) to head into halftime with a 4-3 lead after Mossop – the defending NEC Rookie of the Week – notched her second goal of the afternoon with 3:14 left in the half.
Monmouth (2-8, 1-1) would even the score less than two minutes into the second stanza, but Mossop would rifle home a pair of successful free-position attempts minutes later at 26:29 and 25:14, respectively. The hosts would rally back, however, with four-straight goals over the next 13 minutes to take an 8-6 lead – Monmouth's first lead of the night. Mossop would snap the run with 11:09 left to play to end the day with 11 goals on the year.
Waskowicz (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) would complete the comeback effort for RMU, evening the score with 1:56 left and netting the eventual game winner with 13 ticks left on the clock.
Kaitlin Pentz (Sykesville, Md./Century) picked up her third win of the season for Robert Morris, making eight saves in net while Katie Donohoe took the loss for Monmouth with a four-save performance. Kaleigh Gibbons led Monmouth with two goals and two assists.
