Eidem Reaches 150 Goals, But Titans Fall at Duquesne

PITTSBURGH -- Senior Anna Eidem (Champlin, MN/Totino-Grace) carried the load on offense scoring five goals including the 150th of her career - but a strong start from Duquesne was too much to overcome, and the Titans fell, 18-6, on Sunday at Rooney Field.

Eidem now has 22 goals on the year, but it was her last goal of the day that led her to the milestone number.

The Titans (1-7) faced an uphill battle from the very start as Duquesne (7-3) found the back of the net five times in the opening 10 minutes.

Detroit continued to play aggressive on defense forcing seven turnovers in the first, but the Dukes were able to extend their spurt to 12 when Eidem broke the streak with 1:33 left in the half.

Eidem was the main offensive producer in the second half coming up with Detroit's first three goals in the stanza before senior Emily Boissonneault (Brooklin, ON/Donald A. Wilson) added one late in the period. Her final and the 150th of her career came with just under 30 seconds left as Boissonneault found Eidem in the zone for the score.

The Titans played two goalies on the day with senior Alycsa Valentine (Shelby Township, MI/Eisenhower) receiving her first playing time of the season in cage. She came off the bench to make six saves in 34 minutes of action.

Both teams were pretty close in shots with Duquesne having one more on the day, 27-26. Detroit also won 11 draw controls

After playing seven of its first eight games away from home, Detroit will now enjoy the friendly confines of Titan Field with four-straight home games, beginning with an NLC battle against Liberty on Friday. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
