Sailfish Victorious over Charleston with Goal at 0:10

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Despite a weather delay, Palm Beach Atlantic overcame the conditions for a rain-soaked 10-9 victory over the College of Charleston at Ansonborough Field. Sophomore Colin Price (Fairfax Station, Va./Lake Braddock) led all Sailfish goal scorers with five goals, while senior Joe Ciringione (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) finished with two goals and three assists.

The Sailfish (6-4) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, before Charleston (3-4) answered with two goals in the second quarter. Midway through the second, a thunderstorm moved in, causing a 40 minute weather delay. Once play resumed, both teams continued their efforts in the driving rain amidst general sloppiness on both sides.

After a short halftime break, both teams were welcomed again by rain and more rain. As a result, Charleston took advantage and tied the game with goals at 8:03 and 7:02. From this point, Palm Beach Atlantic gained the lead, forcing a back-and-forth contest that held until the Cougars tied and took the lead late in the fourth quarter (1:14, 4th).

On the ensuing face-off, Dave Schultz (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) would gather possession for PBA, but nothing resulted. After a Sailfish turnover, the Palm Beach Atlantic ride produced a turnover of its' own as Ciringione picked off a clearing pass and then fed Bobby Hantske (Annapolis, Md./Southern) for the tying goal at 0:52.

Moments later, Schultz would win another draw and take a shot that was saved by Charleston's Nicholas Roach. On the ride once again, the Sailfish forced another errant pass; Colin Price collected the ball and sent it into the empty net for the game's clinching goal with 0:10 remaining.

Schultz dominated the face-off circle, with the help of freshman Joey Mazzola (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Jupiter Christian), who also scored late in the fourth quarter. Junior Dennis Koleda (Huntington, N.Y./Harborfields) added two assists.

The Sailfish return to action on Saturday, March 31 at 4:00 p.m. against the University of North Florida (0-8).
