MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny College Gators evened their record at 2-2 on the season with a 9-4 loss to the Knights of Geneseo (4-0) on a rainy Friday afternoon at Robertson Field.

The Gators led at 3-2, before Geneseo ended the first half with three straight goals, putting the game out of reach for the Blue and Gold.

Geneseo's Megan Hilts scored the first of her three goals 2:39 into the game before the Gators knotted the game at one when Ashley Hughes (Wexford/North Allegheny) scored off of an unassisted goal. Danie Parsons (Brook Park, Ohio/Magnificat) answered another Geneseo goal, tying the game at two, before Hughes' second goal of the game gave the hosts a 3-2 lead. The Knights responded by scoring three goals in the final 11 minutes, taking a 5-3 lead into halftime.

The two teams traded goals to start the second half, with Ashley Rogerson (Fairport, N.Y.) scoring the second goal of the half, closing the gap to 6-4. Three straight goals by the visitors sent the Knights home to New York with the 9-4 victory.

Hughes' three points were a team high, as were her nine shots attempts. Rogerson picked up a team-best three ground balls, while Parsons and Emily Deering (Hollis, Maine/Bonny Eagle) each caused a trio of turnovers.

Leslie Stange (Murrysville/Franklin Regional) stopped 13 shots in the game, including eight in the second half, facing 38 shots in the contest.

The next game for the Blue and Gold is on Sunday, April 2, at noon, when the team hosts Ohio Wesleyan University for the NCAC opener for the Gators.
