Wildcats Shut Down by the Ducks' Defense

UO did not waste any time as the second half began as Propst once again set up another teammate, except this time it was freshman Casey Brogan, who tallied her first goal in a Duck uniform at the 29:11 minute mark, giving Oregon a 7-0 lead.

The Ducks gave the Wildcats a little bit of hope as Ann Fucigna and Mary Leonard combined to record the first goals of the match for Davidson, moving the match to 7-2. But after a wide shot by Erin Keitel, Oregon came back down the field and got one of the goals back as junior Kate Cathell got Jessie Esteban on the score sheet for her sixth goal of the season.

That was all the Ducks needed as the Wildcats did get two more goals from Fucigna, but it was not as Oregon took their fourth straight match over Davidson, 8-4. Propst ended the match with a match-high five points due to her three goals and two assists.

Federighi (6-3) was credited with the win, not allowing a single goal while collecting three saves. Finnegan saved four and allowed all four Wildcat goals. Davidson goalie Jessica Melby (3-6) picked up the loss, but had a match-high eight saves.

The Ducks leave the state of North Carolina and head to Maryland, where they will take on Cincinnati at South River High School in Edgewater, Md. at 9 a.m. (PST) on Sunday (Apr. 1).
