Clarkson Knocks off 15th-Ranked Rensselaer

Shearin added his second of the game with 40 seconds left on the clock, but RPI senior Andrew Liptak cut the visitors' deficit to 7-3 at 19 seconds. In the final quarter, Engineers junior Mike Sarson tallied to make it a 7-4 lead for Clarkson with 13:48 remaining, but the home team sealed the game just 40 seconds later as McCabe scored. Clarkson added two goals over the final ten minutes of the game for the final margin.

Clarkson, which held a 39-25 shots advantage in the game, also led in ground balls by a 31-19 margin. Between the pipes, Cole earned the victory, stopping nine shots. Additionally, Shearin had an assist to go along with two goals for a game-high three points.

For the Engineers, who led in caused turnovers (10-6) and face-offs (13-5), starter James Manchester did not make any saves through the opening 8:42 before giving way to Castronovo, who stopped 20 shots in 51:18 of play.

Clarkson is back on the field on Wednesday when it hosts Potsdam State at 4:00 pm. Rensselaer returns to action on Saturday, welcoming league-rival and #4 RIT to East Campus Stadium (1:00 pm).
