Piraino Clears Milestone in Brockport Win over Potsdam

Senior Dayna Piraino (Syracuse, NY/Henninger) handed out three assists to record her 200th career point leading to a 21-2 victory over Potsdam in a SUNYAC game Saturday afternoon in Brockport. The game was the home opener for the Golden Eagles.

Brockport (5-1 overall, 1-0 SUNYAC) struck quickly scoring eight times in the first 10 minutes of the contest and held a commanding 16-0 lead at the halftime intermission.

Piraino had two assists in the first half and reached the 200-point plateau with her third assist of the game in the second half. She becomes just the third player in school history to clear the milestone joining Angela Inzinna who scored 308 points from 2003-06 and Julie Decker who tallied 204 points from 2006-09.

In the second half, the Golden Eagles continued to control the play outscoring Potsdam (3-5, 0-1) 5-2 in the final 30 minutes of the contest.

After Brockport scored two early goals by Sarah Brown (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) and Nina Tassone (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), junior Emily Zartman (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) scored on two consecutive free position shots before senior Karen Bianchi (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) scored consecutive goals for the first two of seven goals on the day, giving Brockport a 6-0 lead.

Alyssa Scoredo (Watertown, NY/South Jefferson) and Bianchi each added a goal to make it an 8-0 advantage 10 minutes into the game. Bianchi scored her fourth goal for a 9-0 lead and Tassone added her second goal of the game to make the score 10-0 which prompted running time for the remainder of the contest.

Before the end of the first half, Zartman added two more goals; Bianchi added two more while Brown and freshman Katie Sullivan (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) each scored for the 16-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Scordo and Tassone each scored twice and Bianchi added the seventh goal of the game. Piraino earned the assist on Bianchi's goal to make it a 20-0 score less than 10 minutes into the second half.

Brown finished with two goals and four assists, Tassone added four goals and an assist, Scordo had three goals and two assists while Alyssa Case (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker), Kaila Maguire (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam) and Erin Featherstone (Tully, NY/Tully) each added one assist.
