Presidents Knock off Kenyon to Snap Losing Streak

WASHINGTON, Pa. Washington & Jefferson junior attacker Megan Kelly (South Park, Pa./Seton-LaSalle) scored a pair of second-half goals to help the Presidents hold off Kenyon 8-6 in action on Saturday at Alexandre Stadium.

W&J (6-3) snapped a two-game losing streak and defeated Kenyon (4-3) for the second-straight season.

The Presidents trailed 3-2 late in the first half, but goals from senior attacker Lauren Novak (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) and junior midfielder Brittany Fradkin (Owings Mills, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) during the final six minutes of the half put W&J ahead 4-3.

W&J seized control of the game with the first three goals of the second half. Fradkin, Kelly and senior midfielder Liz Turcik (Ligonier, Pa./Miss Halls School) all netted goals during the first 10 minutes to build a 7-3 advantage.

Kenyon fought back with three-straight tallies to close to within 7-6 with 6:19 remaining, but Kelly provided an insurance goal with 3:11 left and the W&J defense held the Ladies off the scoreboard in the final minutes.

Junior goalie Julia McLellan (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) finished with eight saves for the Presidents, who claimed 13 of the match's 16 draw controls. W&J also outshot KC 22-19.

Fradkin had three goals, while freshman midfielder Stephanie Kapuschansky (Williamsburg, Va./York) also added one goal on a free-position shot.
