No. 8 Franklin & Marshall Shuts Down McDaniel

LANCASTER, Pa. Lauren Ehrhardt scored six goals to lead No. 8 Franklin & Marshall to an 11-1 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) action Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats improved to 8-2, 4-0 CC while the Green Terror fell to 4-6, 1-3 CC.

Ehrhardt tallied F&M's first four goals in the opening 12 minutes. Ali Kelly connected with Ehrhardt on two of the goals, one at 26:53 and the other at 22:55 with Cat Serpe finding Ehrhardt in between at 23:51. Erin Dunne hooked up with Ehrhardt at 18:09 and Katie Delaney assisted Mary Mitchell at 8:21 as F&M went into the break with a 5-0 edge.

The Diplomats continued their scoring with three goals in the opening six minutes in the second half. Mitchell tallied at 29:37 and Serpe struck with back-to-back goals to put F&M up 8-0 with 24:20 left to play.

McDaniel stopped the bleeding momentarily with a score at 22:18, but the Diplomats finished strong with the last three scores of the game. Mitchell picked up her third score before Ehrhardt netted her fifth and sixth goal on feeds from Caroline Krohn.

Jen Noon collected seven groundballs while Serpe picked up four draws and caused three turnovers.

Kelsey Hoffman stopped nine shots and improved to 8-2 on the season. Lily Galzerano took the loss for McDaniel.

F&M outshot McDaniel 21-12 and won 10 of the game's 14 draws.

The Diplomats return to action on Friday when F&M travels to TCNJ for a 6:00 p.m. game.

Monica Parcell (Prospect Park, Pa./Interboro) scored the lone goal for the Green Terror (4-6, 1-3 CC) with 22:18 remaining in the second half.

Lauren Ehrhardt led the Diplomats (8-2, 4-0 CC) with six goals while Mary Mitchell tallied three.

Ehrhardt scored the game's first six goals, staking the hosts to a 4-0 advantage through the game's first 11:51. Ali Kelly had the assist on two of the markers.

Mitchell goals with 8:21 to play in the first half and just 23 seconds into the second half stretched the lead to 6-0.

Two Cat Serpe tallies 1:52 apart pushed the advantage to 8-0 with 24:20 to play before Parcell got McDaniel on the board.

A Mitchell solo run midway through the second half and two Caroline Krohn-to-Ehrhardt tallies in the final 5:48 set the final margin.

Franklin & Marshall finished with a 21-12 advantage in shots.

The Green Terror returns to action at No. 1 Gettysburg on Wednesday. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
