Hood Hammered by Visiting Marymount

FREDERICK, Md.--Hood (2-11, 0-4 CAC) came up on the short end of a 22-8 Capital Athletic Conference decision to the visiting Marymount Saints (3-6, 2-2 CAC) Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Thomas Athletic Field.

All five seniors on the Blazer roster made significant contributions to the Hood effort. Kati Vu (three goals) and Julia Banks (two goals, one assist) had a hand in six of the Blazers' eight goals on the day. Maria Moss scooped six ground balls and snagged two takeaways while Helene Butler finished with four saves and Jennifer Fischer controlled three draws and attempted a pair of shots.

In addition, junior Caitlin Lawrence had a hat trick and won eight draws for Hood.

The Blazers trailed 9-2 with 11:32 remaining in the opening stanza before Hood netted three scores in less than two minutes to close the gap to 9-5. But the Saints responded with a three-goal spurt of their own and led 12-5 at intermission.

Hood was unable to match the Saints' scoring prowess in the second half despite attempting 10 shots to MU's 11.

Megan McGuirk scored six times for the Saints while Tancy Weatherford and Taylor Johnson had four goals apiece.

Hood is idle until an April 7 road trip to St. Mary's College (Md.) for a 1:00 p.m. CAC tilt.
