Five Hat Tricks Lead #3 C.W. Post by Lake Erie

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 1, 2012) Five players registered hat tricks as third-ranked C.W. Post cruised to a 23-5 win over Lake Erie College in an East Coast Conference game played Sunday afternoon on Hickox Field.

C.W.Post improves to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the ECC while Lake Erie dips to 4-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

The Pioneers jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first nine minutes of the game with junior attacker Ashley Olen (East Islip, N.Y.) leading with three.

The Storm scored their first goal at 19:05 from Meredith Howe.

From there, the Pioneers poured in seven more goals before the end of the half, including a goal from junior attacker BriAnn DeLutri (North Massapequa, N.Y.) with one second left on the game clock.

At the half, C.W. Post was outshooting Lake Erie, 22-7, and was 11 for 4 on draw controls.

The offensive continued to stay strong in the second half for the Pioneers as they continued their run with a pair from sophomore attacker Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) at 28:46 and sophomore midfielder Kathleen Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.) at 22:41.

The Storm tallied their second goal of the game when Julia Kudla scored at the 22-minute mark.

C.W. Post answered with back-to-back goals from sophomore midfielder Samantha Losco (Smithtown, N.Y.) followed by a goal from junior attacker Megan Noone (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) with 14:25 left to play.

Lake Erie found the back of the net on another goal from Howe at 13:30.

Senior defender Chelsea Donaldson (Bay Shore, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season unassisted at 9:50.

Kudla added another goal to her game total at 8:25 and teammate Ashriel West scored at 1:07.

Freshman attacker Alexis Newman (Medford Lakes, N.J.) scored her second goal of the season with 44 seconds to play. DeLutri scored the game's final goal with seven seconds on the clock.

Sileo, Olen, Rotan, Losco and senior attacker Lauren Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.) all recorded three goals in the game. Sileo added three assists while Olen had two assists. Senior midfielder Nan Mayott (Islip, N.Y.) and DeLutri each scored a pair of goals. Newman finished the game with one goal and three assists.

Junior Dominique Mosca (Merrick, N.Y.) made one save in goal for the win. Sophomore Katie Hannan (Gansevoort, N.Y.) played the final 39:28 in goal and made three saves.

Howe and Kudla led the Storm with a pair of goals. Emily Rock made five saves during the first half while Annie Mendoza finished up the second half with seven saves.

C.W. Post returns to action on Wednesday, April 4 at Queens College for a 3:30 p.m. start.
