Bates Halts No. 11 Bowdoin's Winning Streak

Bowdoin rallied from an early two-goal deficit to tie the game at 2-2 with tallies from O'Toole and Cardew early in the second quarter. But the Bobcats scored three times in the final 9:04 before halftime to take a 5-2 edge at the break.

Bates held Bowdoin off the scoreboard for a stretch 28:13 and extended their lead to 6-2 before Daniel Hanley finally found the back of the net for Bowdoin at 13:50 of the fourth. Bates quickly responded with a pair of goals to push their lead to five goals and Bowdoin could get no closer than four for the remainder of the contest.

Chris Williamson stopped 10 shots for Bowdoin in the loss. Adam Scharff made nine stops for Bates. The Bobcats held a 40-34 edge in shots and won 11 of 20 faceoffs. Bowdoin could not take advantage of the extra man, going 0-5 with the advantage.

The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday, April 7, when they host NESCAC-leading Trinity at 2:00 p.m.
