Scranton built up a 6-3 halftime lead before the Devils cut the advantage to two as Koontz opened the third period with an unassisted goal. Behind two goals by Frank and one each by Slade and McInerney, the Royals turned the momentum completely in their favor with a 4-1 run to take a 10-5 lead with nine minutes remaining the fourth period. The Royals then held the Devils to just one more goal the rest of the way.
