Westfield State Pitches a Shutout vs. Elms
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Senior Carly Keeley (Feeding Hills/Agawam HS) scored a game-high six points (3 goals, 3 assists) to lead Westfield State to a 17-0 victory over Elms in a NEWLA game on Wednesday afternoon, April 5.
Westfield improves to 2-0 in the NEWLA and 3-5 overall. Elms is 0-4 and 0-9.
The Owls, who jumped out to a 9-0 halftime lead, had a total of five players score multiple goals. Junior Maura Stack (Wilbraham/Minnechaug) equaled Keeley's game-high three goals. Scoring two goals apiece were: Sadie Graham (North Andover), Nicole DiPilato (Shrewsbury) and Amanda Bouchard (Lexington).
Westfield outshot Elms, 43-3. Elms goalie Rachel Schrutt (Chicopee) registered 18 saves, including 13 in the first half.
