Elizabethtown Storms by Lycoming in Conference Opener

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. Elizabethtown scored 14 goals in the first half to help it go on to post an 18-2 win over Lycoming in both teams' Commonwealth Conference opener on Thursday, April 5, at Wolf Field.

Leigh Flounlacker led the Blue Jays (7-3 overall, 1-0 Commonwealth) with five goals and Becky Porter added three goals and two assists. Andrea Russo also posted three goals. Emily Butler and Katie Scheurich each added a goal, two assists and three groundballs.

Lycoming (3-7 overall, 0-1 Commonwealth) got on the board with 24:15 left in the second half, as freshman Casey Maguire (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) scored on a free-position attempt. Junior Brooke Strausser (Myerstown, Pa./Conrad Weiser Area) added another free-position goal, as she scored in her 11th straight game.

Freshman Erin Cieniewicz (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) posted six draw controls and two groundballs for the Warriors and Strausser added four draw controls and a goal.

Senior Kristina Maurer (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Marian Catholic) played one half, making three stops and junior Lauren Reitnouer (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) played the second half, making one stop for the Warriors. Rachael Waldman earned the win for the Blue Jays, making three stops in 30 minutes.

The Warriors get back into action on Wednesday, April 11, when they face conference foe Lebanon Valley at 4:00 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
